Meet Elizabeth Boylan

Hi, I’m Elizabeth, an experiential psychotherapist. I work with clients to treat traumatic experiences and co-occurring substance use, depression, and anxiety. I have worked in hospital settings, inpatient residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatients, day treatment programs, sober livings, and rape crisis centers.

Trained in a range of therapeutic modalities, I am passionate about fostering safety in the nervous system through the following:

including:

  • Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Somatic Experiencing (SE)

  • Brainspotting

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Polyvagal Theory

  • Attachment Theory

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Certified Rape Crisis Counseling/Advocacy

  • Mindfulness

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

We all grow and learn in our own unique ways. Through tailored psychoeducation and therapeutic modalities, I provide pathways for clients to feel empowered, safe in their bodies, and to be their most authentic selves. Finding a strong therapeutic connection is extremely important in fostering change and growth. I create a safe, non-judgmental space to allow for an authentic relationship to form between us. I believe in the body’s innate ability to move towards healing and its ability to learn to experience emotions within its window of tolerance. Past traumatic life experiences lead to a loss of self and values. I hope to support you in healing the internal wounds that lead to this loss of identity. While life is full of ups-and-downs, therapy supports finding glimmers and ways to address triggers in order to feel comfortable in your body and life.

Education

I completed my undergraduate studies at Lesley University with a BA in Psychology and minor in Social Work. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. I have always been passionate about serving a vast array of communities and have experience in many different levels of care with underserved populations. I am deeply committed towards my ongoing professional development.  I have been asked to assist in training other clinicians to deepen my own learning around different somatic modalities as well as support those in the helping profession.
